Congratualtions to BEVA Member and former BEVA Treasurer, John McEwen, who was awarded the MBE for services to equestrian sport
Director of Equine Sports Science and Medicine for the Lottery funded Equestrian World Class Programme, John McEwen, was awarded an MBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours List 2013 (15 June 2013) for his services to equestrian sport.
John, who is based in Monmouthshire, has over 42 years' experience in equine veterinary practice. Team Vet to the British Showjumping and Dressage teams for over 30 years; he has accompanied the British equestrian teams to all major Championships, including his eighth Olympic Games in London, 2012.
Equestrian Performance Director, Will Connell, commented; "John has given a lifetime of service and support to the equestrian veterinary world and in particular Equestrian Team GBR; there are many a British medallist that owe John a huge debt of gratitude. He is tireless and selfless in his support to the Programme, the Teams and the FEI. He, and by default his wife Catherine, richly deserve this recognition".
John is also the current Chairman of the Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI) Veterinary Committee, as well as being the FEI First Vice President; he has also been the National Lead Veterinarian for the British Equestrian Federation (BEF) since 2005.

He has given much as a consultant and in a range of voluntary areas; he has been a wonderful ambassador for Great Britain.
